Help us to help you – Every Baby Matters

Over the past 2-years the country has been fighting against Covid-19. During this time, baby loss has continued to affect hundreds of thousands of people in the UK.

Bereaved parents are still forced to seek out support, often enduring depression, loneliness and mental health problems, with around 70% of bereaved parents reporting they suffered mental health issues following loss (MT SMHRFBL survey 2018.)

Bereaved parents still have no formal recognition of any life that has been lost pre-24-weeks gestation, and are still not eligible for any paid bereavement leave.

Bereaved parents still have to suffer 3 concurrent miscarriages before further investigations are available.

This is completely unacceptable and must change, so that true compassionate care can be provided to everyone experiencing loss at any stage of pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy.

We are calling for:

  • Implementation of the new Certification for all baby loss pre-24-week gestation
  • Paid bereavement leave for anyone who encounters a loss pre-24-weeks gestation
  • That both parents be included in pregnancy care and in post loss support
  • 24-7 access to medical care, scans and tests
  • Access to medical investigations and tests following one loss
  • Better education in schools on infertility and grief
  • Access to comprehensive support pre, during and post loss
  • A clear pathway and resources for people suffering from mental health issues following loss.
